Rusail Industrial Area, Oman / PLOT 245
Rusail 245
A landmark clear-span roof for food production.

Self-supporting roof with no intermediate columns
THE PROJECT
A wider space for production.
In Rusail Industrial Area, this facility brings fruit and juice processing and packaging together with cold-storage units, offices and accommodation. Its defining feature is a self-supporting K-SPAN roof spanning 36 m without intermediate columns, with a height of 13 m. The uninterrupted interior provides flexibility for production equipment and movement through the facility.
MAZ describes this project as the largest self-supporting K-SPAN roof in the Middle East. Alongside the main roof, concrete waffle-slab technology is used in the concrete floor and roof construction. The project photographs show the progression from excavation and foundations to concrete works and installation of the large roof sections.
